Members - Laura Orr

Laura has always appreciated and admired the creative process in all Its forms, theatre, music, writing, poetry, and art, finally on her retirement she was fortunate to have the opportunity to begin her personal journey with Art by becoming a member of the South Simcoe Palette Club.
Born in England in 1949 and immigrated with her parents to Canada in 1953, a long-time resident of Simcoe County, living in her current home in Essa Township for over thirty years with her husband Michael.
Mother of two grown daughters Jane and Sarah, proud Grandmother of nine year old Katie and four year old Nya.
Long career in many areas of social services including healthcare and employment counseling, retiring from Focus Community Development Corporation after almost eighteen years, in 2015.
Many Community volunteer endeavours over the years, now active as a Patient and Family Advisor with Stevenson Memorial Hospital and the Local Integrated Health Network.
Laura enjoys the generous spirit of mentoring shared with the talented members of the SSPC and continues to explore and grow as a novice painter, she is open to learning to paint in all mediums but keeps returning to explore more fully "water colour" which she finds very enjoyable.
